The Wolf Among Us Remastered has brought Bigby Wolf back into the spotlight, but returning PlayStation players have an unexpected decision to make before revisiting Fabletown. The Wolf Among Us discount promised to eligible PS5 buyers isn’t consistently appearing on the PlayStation Store, leaving some customers facing higher prices than advertised.
That makes this more than an inconvenient launch-day glitch. With savings reaching 50% for qualifying players, buying immediately could mean spending twice as much as necessary. Fortunately, Telltale has acknowledged the situation, and Sony is working on a solution.
Wolf Among Us discount: what PS5 players should actually pay
The remaster launched digitally on October 29, 2026, with a standard PlayStation Store price of $24.99 or £19.99. However, Telltale announced several introductory offers designed to reward existing fans and PlayStation Plus subscribers.
On PS5, the advertised pricing depends on your account’s eligibility:
20% off: PlayStation Plus subscribers who don’t own the original game, bringing the price to approximately $19.99 or £15.99.30% off: Digital PS4 original owners without PlayStation Plus, reducing the price to approximately $17.49 or £13.99.50% off: Players who own the original digitally and subscribe to PlayStation Plus, paying approximately $12.49 or £9.99.
These are separate eligibility tiers rather than discounts that can be stacked manually. Additionally, owning a physical copy doesn’t qualify players for the digital ownership promotion.
The problem is that some eligible customers aren’t seeing their expected reduction. Reports include purchases at full price and smaller-than-promised discounts. One returning player reportedly paid £15.99 despite expecting the 50% offer.
Consequently, a customer might see a legitimate-looking discounted price without receiving the correct discount for their account.
Why waiting could save returning players money
On October 29, Telltale acknowledged the PlayStation pricing problem on X. According to the developer, Sony is working to correct the store-side issue as quickly as possible. Telltale also promised further information when available.
There is an important distinction here: the game itself has launched, but its advertised PlayStation discounts aren’t working reliably for everyone. This isn’t a reported gameplay malfunction or a delay affecting the PS5 release.
For players who qualify for the maximum reduction, the difference is substantial. A £19.99 purchase should fall to approximately £9.99, while the US price drops from $24.99 to roughly $12.49 before any applicable taxes.
Therefore, anyone planning to use the promotional offer should verify the final checkout total before confirming payment. If the expected discount is missing, waiting for Sony’s correction is the safer option.
The official promotional window runs from October 29 through November 12, 2026. However, Telltale hasn’t confirmed a specific resolution date or whether affected buyers will receive automatic refunds for overpayments.
Xbox customers with discount questions have also been directed to Telltale’s support ticket system. That doesn’t necessarily mean every platform is experiencing the same problem.

A rebuilt Fabletown offers more than sharper graphics
Behind the pricing controversy is a substantial restoration of one of Telltale’s best-known adventures. Originally released episodically between 2013 and 2014, The Wolf Among Us follows Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, as he investigates a murder within a secret community of fairy-tale characters in 1980s New York.
Based on the Fables comics, the story combines detective fiction, difficult moral choices and a distinctive urban fantasy atmosphere. Rather than reinventing that experience, Telltale has concentrated on improving its presentation.
All five original episodes return: Faith, Smoke & Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep’s Clothing and Cry Wolf.
Characters and textures have been rebuilt, every scene has received new lighting, and the technology has been upgraded to the engine version used for Telltale’s Batman games. Players can also expect improved animation, audio, interface design, resolution and overall smoothness.
One particularly interesting addition is Noir Mode, which presents the adventure entirely in black and white. Unlike a simple resolution upgrade, this optional visual treatment changes how Fabletown’s shadows, interiors and dramatic encounters feel.
Meanwhile, Bigby’s transformed werewolf appearance has been redesigned to look more ferocious. Game director Matt Saia explained in the PlayStation Blog that the team deliberately preserved the original story and directing decisions.
The package also includes five playable deleted scenes, an artwork gallery featuring more than 100 images, and over an hour of interviews and behind-the-scenes material.
This makes the remaster particularly interesting for returning fans who want to explore material absent from their first playthrough. It also illustrates how older games can gain new appeal without rewriting what made them memorable.

The bigger reason this remaster matters before 2027
Timing gives this release another purpose. The Wolf Among Us 2 is currently scheduled for 2027, meaning the remaster provides a convenient opportunity to experience Bigby’s original investigation before his next chapter.
Telltale has also indicated that choices from the original adventure will carry significance into the sequel. As a result, revisiting Fabletown could have more value than simply enjoying a familiar story with better graphics.
The project, developed and published through Telltale Games and PM Studios under a Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment licence on behalf of DC, was revealed at Summer Game Fest. It is now available digitally on PS5, PC through Steam and Epic Games Store, and Xbox One, with Xbox Series X|S compatibility through backward compatibility.
Nintendo Switch will receive its version later, marking the series’ first appearance on Nintendo hardware. Meanwhile, physical editions are planned for the first quarter of 2027.

Ultimately, this launch creates two very different experiences. Newcomers can discover a carefully restored narrative thriller, while returning players have additional content and a potential financial incentive to revisit it.
Yet that incentive needs to work as advertised. Until Sony resolves the Wolf Among Us discount problem, checking your eligibility and waiting for the correct price may be the smartest way to return to Fabletown.
Would you rather revisit Bigby’s story immediately, or hold off until the promised savings are available?
