PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: 12 October 2026

1. Who is responsible for your data

Battle4play is a digital publication about video games and entertainment. We are not legally required to appoint a Data Protection Officer, but you can send any privacy question to the email above.

2. What data we process, why, and on what legal basis

2.1 Browsing the Site

When you visit Battle4play, the hosting server automatically logs technical data: IP address, date and time, pages visited, browser and operating system, and referring page. We use it to run the Site, keep it secure (attack detection, blocking abusive access) and produce aggregate statistics. Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the Site operational and secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

2.2 Cookies and similar technologies

We use first‑party and third‑party cookies for functional, preference, statistical and advertising purposes. Non‑essential cookies are only set if you accept them in the consent banner, and you can change your choice at any time via the “Manage consent” link. Full details are in our Cookie Policy. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Art. 22(2) of the Spanish LSSI). Strictly necessary cookies rely on legitimate interest.

2.3 Web analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) to understand how the Site is used: most‑read pages, reading time, device, approximate country. Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses. It only runs if you accept statistics cookies. Legal basis: consent.

2.4 Advertising

Battle4play is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense (Google LLC). If you accept marketing cookies, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and identifiers (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to show you personalised ads based on your visits to this and other sites. If you do not accept them, you will see non‑personalised ads, which are not based on your browsing history but may use your approximate location and the content of the page. You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings and learn about other options at www.aboutads.info and www.youronlinechoices.eu. How Google uses data from partner sites: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Legal basis: consent.

2.5 Affiliate links

Some articles contain affiliate links (for example to Amazon or other stores). If you buy through them, Battle4play may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When you click, the destination store may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. Articles containing affiliate links say so clearly.

2.6 Embedded third‑party content

Articles may embed YouTube videos and posts from X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok or Facebook. These load only if you accept marketing cookies; until then you will see a placeholder. Once enabled, the provider may collect browsing data as if you had visited its own site.

2.7 Contact by email

If you write to any of our addresses, we process your name, email and message to deal with your enquiry (collaboration, press, advertising, corrections, data‑subject requests). Legal basis: legitimate interest in replying to those who contact us and, where relevant, pre‑contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

2.8 Push notifications

If you agree to receive browser notifications, the OneSignal service (OneSignal, Inc., USA) stores a browser identifier to send you alerts about new articles. You can switch them off at any time in your browser settings. Legal basis: consent.

2.9 Social media

We run profiles on X, Instagram, Facebook and Threads. If you interact with them, processing is governed by each network’s privacy policy, and anything you post there is visible according to your own settings on that network.

3. Recipients of your data

We do not sell your personal data. To run the Site, the following providers may access data as processors or independent controllers:

Provider Service Location Transfer safeguard
Dinahosting S.L. Web hosting and email Spain (EU) Not required
Google LLC (Google Ireland Ltd. for EU users) Analytics, AdSense, Google Tag, Site Kit, Fonts, YouTube EU / USA EU‑US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and Standard Contractual Clauses

We may also disclose data to authorities and courts where the law requires it.

4. International transfers

Some of the providers above are established in the United States. Transfers rely on the adequacy decision for the EU‑US Data Privacy Framework (for certified companies) or on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, together with supplementary measures.

5. Retention periods

  • Server and security logs: up to 12 months.
  • Record of your cookie consent: 12 months (the lifetime of the consent cookie).
  • Google Analytics data: 14 months (retention setting).
  • Emails: for as long as the enquiry is being handled and afterwards for as long as needed to deal with possible liabilities (no more than 3 years unless the law requires otherwise).
  • Push notification identifier: until you unsubscribe.

6. Your rights

You may at any time exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing, data portability and withdrawal of consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand. You also have the right not to be subject to automated decision‑making; Battle4play does not carry out any.

To exercise them, write to admin@battle4play.com stating the right you wish to exercise and a means of verifying your identity. We will reply within one month at most.

If you believe we have not handled your rights correctly, you may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) (www.aepd.es, C/ Jorge Juan 6, 28001 Madrid, Spain) or with the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

7. Children

Battle4play is a general‑interest video game publication and is not directed at children under 14. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age (or under 13 in the United States, in line with COPPA). If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. United States users (state privacy rights)

If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon or another state with a consumer privacy law:

  • Categories of personal information processed in the last 12 months: online identifiers (IP address, cookie and advertising IDs), internet activity information (pages viewed, ad interactions) and approximate location.
  • Purpose: operating the Site, analytics and advertising.
  • “Sale” or “sharing”: we do not sell data for money. Our use of third‑party advertising cookies may count as “sharing for cross‑context behavioural advertising” under California law. You can opt out by rejecting marketing cookies in the banner or via the “Manage consent” / “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer. We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals.
  • Rights: to know, access, delete and correct your data, to opt out of sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Contact admin@battle4play.com. An authorised agent may act on your behalf with proof of authorisation.
  • Sensitive data: we do not process sensitive data, nor data of users under 16 for advertising purposes.

9. Users in other countries

Battle4play is published from Spain and is aimed mainly at readers in the European Union and the United States. If you access the Site from elsewhere (United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Russia, etc.), we process your data under this policy and the GDPR; the rights in section 6 are available to you and you may also contact your national data protection authority (for example the ICO in the UK, the ANPD in Brazil or the OPC in Canada).

10. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data: HTTPS encryption, a web application firewall, access control, backups and regular software updates. No system is infallible; if a security breach affecting your rights occurred, we would notify you as required by the GDPR.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect legal or Site changes. The current version will always be published at this address with its update date. Material changes will be announced visibly on the Site.
