For less than the price of a typical DLC, Nubby’s Number Factory PS5 could offer something increasingly attractive to PlayStation players: an unusual roguelike with a proper Platinum trophy to chase. A newly discovered achievement list suggests its console debut is getting closer, although the biggest surprise may be how much challenge this $4.99 indie game packs into its deliberately ridiculous presentation.
Why Nubby’s Number Factory PS5 could appeal to trophy hunters
The latest clue comes from PSNProfiles, where a PlayStation trophy list for Nubby’s Number Factory has appeared. Interestingly, the list carries a PS4 designation, despite the developer previously announcing PlayStation 5 among the intended console platforms. That distinction leaves the exact PlayStation release configuration unclear.
Rather than introducing completely new objectives, the trophies largely follow achievements already available on Steam. However, PlayStation players get an additional prize: a Platinum trophy for completing the collection.
Some requirements look particularly demanding. Players must achieve a 10,000x restock, unlock every supervisor, survive until round 300 in endless mode and complete the Nubby Trials challenges. These objectives suggest that earning the Platinum will involve considerably more than simply learning the basics.
A strange factory where every bounce can change your run
At first glance, Nubby’s Number Factory resembles a forgotten computer game from the early 2000s. Its basic 3D graphics, Comic Sans lettering and WordArt-inspired presentation feel almost aggressively outdated. Yet that visual identity is part of its appeal.
Created by solo developer MogDogBlog Productions, the game combines a Plinko-style pegboard with roguelike progression. Players launch a small spherical character named Nubby into a board filled with pegs, generating increasingly enormous numbers as each attempt unfolds.
There is one rather important workplace rule: meet your production quota. According to the game’s official description, failing means the sun explodes. Fortunately, successful rounds allow players to purchase upgrades, combine effects and build powerful synergies that transform ordinary bounces into spectacular scoring opportunities.
That escalating satisfaction places the game in the same broad family as Balatro, where experimenting with combinations can be more compelling than the underlying rules initially suggest. Nubby also features supervisors that modify run conditions, endless play and dedicated Nubby Trials challenges. Consequently, its simplicity hides several different ways to test your understanding of the system.
The $4.99 console strategy matters more than it seems
Released on Steam on March 7, 2025, Nubby’s Number Factory has already established an impressive reputation. As reported by Push Square, 97% of more than 17,000 Steam user reviews are positive, giving the game an Overwhelmingly Positive reception.
Its journey beyond PC is also underway. After arriving on iOS and Android, the developer confirmed in July 2026 that console ports were being developed with the same professional partner responsible for the mobile adaptation.
Those plans cover Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, with Nintendo Switch 2 also under consideration. The announced launch window stretches from Q4 2026 to Q4 2027, while the intended base price remains $4.99 across platforms.
In the official Nubby News #15 development update, the creator explained that console expansion is primarily about reaching people who have not experienced the game. That approach makes sense for a small, self-contained title whose appeal depends heavily on discovering its unusual mechanics firsthand.
For players following upcoming PlayStation 5 games, this could be an affordable alternative to larger releases. Meanwhile, its portable-friendly structure makes the planned Nintendo version interesting for readers keeping track of Nintendo Switch releases.
Still, one important detail remains unresolved. No PlayStation Store listing or confirmed release date has been announced. Trophy lists often appear relatively close to launch, but their publication does not guarantee an imminent release. Nor does the PS4 label establish whether both PlayStation generations will receive separate versions.
If the console edition preserves the addictive upgrade combinations and demanding objectives of the original, Nubby’s Number Factory PS5 could become a particularly appealing budget purchase for roguelike fans and Platinum collectors alike. The remaining question is whether PlayStation players will get to clock into this bizarre factory before 2026 ends.
