Collecting creatures is only part of the appeal of Honkai: Nexus Anima. HoYoverse is also building a world where those companions can grow, interact with their owners and take part in strategic battles. Its upcoming Final Closed Beta offers a closer look at how those ideas fit together before the game’s spring 2027 release.

Rather than focusing entirely on combat, Nexus Anima appears equally interested in what happens between encounters. From a personal recreational vehicle to new ways of interacting with Anima, the latest additions suggest that companionship could become one of the adventure’s defining features.

Nexus Anima will let players explore more of Iia before its 2027 launch

The Final Closed Beta begins on November 25, 2026, across PC, Android and iOS. This limited-slot test will introduce additional story chapters, companions and rivals, giving selected participants a broader look at the journey ahead.

Players take on the role of an Animaster, beginning their adventure in the town of Iia. However, the setting offers more than a conventional starting area. New locations include a traditional bank, a high-rise office building and an island with a lighthouse.

These contrasting environments could make exploration more memorable, particularly in a game that combines creature collecting with an open-world RPG structure. A modern office building and a remote lighthouse suggest different atmospheres within the same adventure, although HoYoverse has not detailed every activity available in these locations.

According to the official Honkai: Nexus Anima website, the full game is scheduled for spring 2027 on PC, iOS and Android. An exact launch date has not been announced.

Living alongside Anima could become as important as collecting them

One of the most interesting changes concerns how players spend time with their creatures. The beta introduces a personal RV where the Animaster can rest at any time, alongside habitats designed for Anima.

There are also additional juvenile Anima that grow alongside the player. Meanwhile, new Chromatic forms offer another variation for collectors to discover. Together, these additions give the creature-collecting side of the adventure more variety beyond simply expanding a roster.

HoYoverse is introducing more physical interactions, too. Players will be able to hold hands with Anima, hug them and even experience being lifted by one of their companions.

That distinction matters. Creature-collecting games often encourage players to think about their companions primarily through battle performance. Here, everyday interactions and personal spaces could give players additional reasons to become attached to particular Anima, even when those creatures are not their strongest competitive options.

This emphasis on spending time inside a distinctive world also offers an interesting point of comparison with Petit Planet, another HoYoverse game planned for 2027. Although the two projects have different identities, both invite attention beyond traditional combat progression.

Nexus Anima is adding ranked battles without abandoning its strategic roots

Companionship may be receiving considerable attention, but strategic combat remains a central part of the experience. Nexus Anima combines creature collecting with auto-battler and auto chess-style mechanics, making team decisions an important element of its battles.

The Final Closed Beta introduces Nexus Arena, a new mode featuring matched opponents and ranks. For players interested in competitive progression, this creates another reason to experiment with different Anima combinations.

However, ranked competition is not the only combat-related addition. HoYoverse is also introducing tougher enemies throughout the open world and in challenge stages.

The combination is significant because it gives players two different ways to test their strategies. Ranked encounters offer structured competition, while stronger exploration enemies and challenge stages provide additional obstacles elsewhere in the adventure. Whether particular team compositions become dominant remains something players will need to discover during testing.

For another look at how HoYoverse approaches team-building mechanics, Battle4Play has also covered Honkai: Star Rail’s Aha and Elation teams in version 4.7. The combat systems differ, but both games place importance on understanding how characters or companions work together.

The Final Closed Beta also changes how limited companions are obtained

Beyond exploration and combat, HoYoverse has announced adjustments to the Eidos Event Bond and Anima Event Bond systems.

Under the updated rules, the first 5-star Eidos or Anima obtained is guaranteed to be the current limited one. Additionally, obtaining a limited Eidos allows players to claim its corresponding Anima Companion for free.

These adjustments are especially relevant for players who want to collect specific companions. They make the first 5-star outcome in the respective Event Bond systems more predictable and establish a direct connection between obtaining a limited Eidos and receiving its matching Anima.

However, the announcement does not establish the game’s final pricing or wider monetization arrangements. Those details should not be assumed from the beta’s Event Bond adjustments.

Anyone hoping to participate must complete the recruitment questionnaire on the official website. Spaces are limited, and selected applicants will receive eligibility information through the eligibility checker, email, SMS or other announced channels.

Importantly, all test data will be wiped when the beta ends. HoYoverse will share the detailed testing schedule later, so November 25 should be treated as the confirmed starting date rather than a complete timetable.

For Nexus Anima, the real question is whether its social interactions, exploration and strategic battles can feel like parts of one coherent adventure. The Final Closed Beta will offer selected players a chance to judge that balance before the spring 2027 launch. Which feature interests you most: building bonds with Anima, exploring Iia or climbing the Nexus Arena ranks?
