Most role-playing games ask players to keep their strongest fighter alive. Meg’s Monster turns that idea upside down. Its leading ogre can withstand almost anything, yet the fate of an entire world depends on whether a little girl starts crying. Now, this unusual pixel-art JRPG is preparing to bring its emotional adventure to PlayStation 5.

Japanese developer Odencat confirmed on November 4, 2026, that Meg’s Monster will launch on PS5 on March 1, 2027, alongside its Lost Memories downloadable content. For PlayStation players, the upcoming release offers a chance to discover an RPG where emotional responsibility matters far more than raw combat strength.

Meg’s Monster arrives on PS5 with its Lost Memories DLC

Odencat revealed the new version through its official announcement on X. The confirmed launch date is March 1, 2027, and the release will be accompanied by downloadable content titled Lost Memories.

The official PlayStation Store listing is already available for wishlisting. It identifies the game as a single-player experience and notes optional in-game purchases associated with DLC. However, Odencat has not announced a PS5 price, so the listing should not be mistaken for confirmation of how much the game or additional content will cost.

For anyone following smaller RPG releases on Sony’s console, this is another title worth keeping on the radar. The PlayStation Store also hosts larger seasonal promotions, including the PlayStation Store Black Friday 2026 deals. Nevertheless, no discount or launch promotion has been confirmed for Meg’s Monster.

Meg’s Monster makes protecting a child harder than surviving combat

At first glance, Roy appears to be the kind of protagonist who could make every encounter effortless. This enormous ogre begins his adventure with 99,999 HP, making him practically untouchable in ordinary combat. Yet his extraordinary durability is not the solution to the game’s biggest problem.

That problem is Meg. If the frightened child begins to cry, the consequences extend far beyond a lost battle. The sky turns blood-red, the ground shakes, and the entire world faces destruction. As a result, keeping Meg calm becomes the real condition for survival, rather than simply preserving Roy’s health.

Encounters introduce their own mechanics and mini-games, while Meg’s favorite toys help prevent her distress from becoming a catastrophe. This changes how players approach conflict. Instead of treating every enemy as another obstacle to defeat, they must consider the emotional consequences of what happens around their vulnerable companion.

The Underworld hides a more personal story beneath its monsters

The adventure unfolds in the Underworld, a place inhabited by monsters that eat humans. Roy, however, has no interest in following that custom. When he and his best friend Golan encounter a lost human girl named Meg, they find themselves responsible for someone who should never have wandered into their world.

Their immediate objective is straightforward: find Meg’s mother and help her return home. Still, this apparently simple journey becomes more complicated as the trio encounters the Underworld’s colorful inhabitants and begins uncovering secrets about the realm and its central characters.

Not every encounter has to end with an enemy remaining an enemy, either. Optional sub-events allow certain defeated opponents to become friends. These smaller interactions give the journey another dimension, suggesting that relationships can matter just as much as confrontations in a world initially presented as hostile.

What begins as a warm story about an unlikely friendship gradually develops into a mystery surrounding both the Underworld and the heroes themselves. The contrast between Roy’s intimidating appearance and his protective role gives the premise much of its identity, without requiring a conventional power-driven RPG narrative.

Meg’s Monster adds PS5 to a growing list of platforms

The PlayStation 5 edition is the latest stop in a release history spanning several platforms. Meg’s Monster originally debuted on March 2, 2023, for Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam. It subsequently reached iOS and Android on May 7, 2026.

Its arrival on another console also places it alongside other distinctive independent adventures finding new audiences across hardware generations. For example, Ova Magica’s console release offers another example of how smaller, character-focused games can attract attention beyond their initial platforms.

Unlike a lengthy RPG built around endless equipment upgrades or increasingly powerful enemies, the central appeal here is the relationship between characters and the tension created by an unusual battle condition. Roy already possesses overwhelming strength. What he needs to learn is how to protect someone who cannot defend herself.

With Meg’s Monster coming to PS5 on March 1, 2027, PlayStation players now have a confirmed date and an active wishlist page. The remaining practical detail is its price. Beyond that, the most interesting question is whether a game about preventing tears can leave players shedding a few of their own.
