Microsoft has started a new month of Xbox Game Pass releases with the arrival of Beast of Reincarnation, the latest action RPG from Game Freak. Best known for developing the Pokemon series, the Japanese studio has taken a very different approach with its newest project, delivering a post-apocalyptic adventure focused on fast-paced melee combat and challenging boss encounters.
As one of August’s day-one releases, the game is available immediately for eligible subscribers across Xbox consoles, PC, and cloud streaming.
Game Freak’s New RPG Is Available From Day One
Beginning August 4, Beast of Reincarnation joined the Xbox Game Pass catalog for Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. The title can be played on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and through Xbox Cloud Gaming in supported regions.
The project has taken a long road to release. Originally announced as Project Bloom, it changed publishers during development before eventually launching under Fictions, a company established by former Annapurna Interactive employees.
Unlike Game Freak’s traditional RPGs, Beast of Reincarnation places players in a ruined version of Japan where protagonist Emma and her loyal companion Koo battle monstrous enemies while uncovering the world’s mysteries.

Critics Highlight Combat as the Game’s Biggest Strength
Early reviews paint Beast of Reincarnation as a solid action RPG that shines most during its combat encounters. Critics have praised its parry mechanics, rewarding boss fights, character progression, and the relationship between Emma and Koo.
On the other hand, some reviewers believe the adventure becomes repetitive over time due to familiar mission design, limited exploration, and inconsistent storytelling. Performance issues, camera behavior, and collision problems have also appeared in several reviews.
Even so, the game represents one of Game Freak’s most ambitious departures from its usual formula and offers Xbox Game Pass subscribers another major day-one release without any additional purchase.
